Our back packers, Mercury back packers, was so easy to find (except for one or two wrong turns!) and we followed the instructions into Penhaus road and Horne road (seriously, say those out loud... Penis and horny... Ha ha ha!) it was a steal at £10 each, SG is so expensive, but the room was tiny and we couldn't even all stand at the same time. The room rules at all times was two in bed and two on the floor. For some reason Robs contracted a all over body itch and she was convinced there were bed bugs! As she inspected her matress, thanks to the tiny room we all had her bum in our faces! Finally, convinced there was nothing, but still itching we decided to leave the room and go and explore!
We spend the day touring all around SG - starting with walk through little India which to us still looked very Chinese ;) although as we walked further in we saw a few more Indians and were then were suddenly greeted by the most beautiful saris and jewellery!
We spotted a place advertising piercings and I decided to get the nose redone after breathing it out on the ferry! Unfortunately they only do it using the gun and a massive earring (which honestly contains half a carrot of cubic z!) so I bought it lovely, tiny gold stud and decided to swap it immediately, much to the jewellers disgust! Anyway, long story short it was pierced, I pulled it out, it bled (a lot), I tried to put the new one in, failed, got it pierced a third time and walked around with the most massive 'bling bling ntah' on my nose for a few days!
We had lunch just next door to the Bugis market (that place has amazing clothes, but you can't try on - which doesn't work when you are shopping in a city filled with little people and you in fact are not so little!!).
We then walked down to the Marina to see the Merlion and and the main CBD - which is impressive! The Merlion was a little disappointing, it's quite small and when we googled it there wasn't much meaning to it... But we ticked the box! In order to save money we walked everywhere and surprising Nix didn't trip as much as she had previously which had us confused, but today she had gifted herself with sight and put in her contacts! Robs ended up walking barefoot as her shoes were killing her! Only barefoot person in the whole of singa!!
We headed home, cleaned up, had a mini nap and then headed out to met Shelley in Kinkis (which matched perfectly with Penhaus and Horne!). It had a beautiful view of the harbour and we watched the sunset while drinking wine (we heart happy hour as a glass if wine is £10!). After this we headed out to a few other bars a short walk away and had a really fun night out with Shelly and her friend Jas!
We got home to our little box and jumped into bed! Once again Robs contracted the chronic itch and was convinced there was bed bug! It turned into a laughing fit - of us imagining the bed bugs climbing up our 'orrifi' to multiple and all sorts of other funny things! The walls were so thin I am sure our poor neighbours were soooo irritated with us - but we couldn't control the laughter!
Next morning we planned an early start, but just couldn't find the energy to make a start. Thankfully there were no bed bug bites which made our day! We all had very very sore necks, as there was a bean bag in the middle of our pillows - which had no place being there!!! Eventually at 11am we headed out to Sentoza island, which proved harder than one would think. For some reason, we got so lost (on this very small island!) and walked back and forth trying to find some sort of direction to the beach! The Island is VERY cheesy - they wave you on and off each platform, have wide wide cheesy grins all the time and are SO enthusiastic about everything!
I don't think Sentoza was our vibe but I can imagine it would be so much fun with a family and the water parks, the wave house, universal studios, beach bars and ski lifts would be soooo much fun!!!
Coming back from the island Nix and I decided we couldn't miss the cable car so we split for a bit, and headed to find the cable car start. On the way we managed to almost step on a snake, which had nix about a metre off the ground in seconds! We also managed to find the big version of the Merlion! The cable car view was breathtaking and it was awesome to see the island from over head, seeing we didn't view much while bundu bashing while lost ;)
(That's the half carrot!!!)
After the island we went and saw yet another China town, walked down Orchard street (it's oxford street on steroids!) and went up to the Marina Bay Sands towers for sunset (ku de ta bar has the most amazing view!)
Singapore was an amazing place and I can imagine living there (on a bigger budget) would be amazing and so much fun in the sun!!!
Next stop - Indonesia!
